This article covers these error messages:
The destination configuration has an issue that prevents the push from running. (state-error)
A Mailchimp list or segment referenced by this automation no longer exists. (state-error - Mailchimp)
Required configuration metadata is missing or invalid for [Destination]. (metadata-error)
TL; DR
Configuration errors mean something about your destination’s setup is off - a missing setting, a deleted resource, or a changed configuration. Check both your StellarAlgo integration settings and the destination platform itself.
What This Means
Configuration errors happen when StellarAlgo can authenticate with your destination, but something about the setup prevents the push from completing. The connection works, but the destination isn’t configured the way StellarAlgo expects.
There are two messages you might see:
The [Destination] configuration has an issue that prevents the push from running - a general configuration problem.
Required configuration metadata is missing or invalid for [Destination] - a specific setting that StellarAlgo needs is missing or was changed.
Common Causes
A list, segment, audience, or other target resource was deleted or renamed in the destination.
A required setting was removed or changed in the destination after the integration was set up.
The destination’s API configuration changed (e.g., a new required field was added).
Steps to Resolve
In StellarAlgo, open the Profile menu in the top-right corner, select Preferences, and verify the destination is correctly configured.
Log into the destination platform and check that the target resource (list, segment, audience, etc.) still exists and hasn’t been renamed or archived.
If the resource was deleted, update the automation to target a different resource.
Review the destination’s setup for any recently changed settings or requirements.
Save any changes and re-run the automation.
Destination-Specific Notes
Mailchimp
If you see ‘A Mailchimp list or segment referenced by this automation no longer exists,’ it means the specific list or segment you were pushing to was deleted directly in Mailchimp.
Log into Mailchimp and check whether the list or segment still exists.
If the list was deleted, you will need to create a new list (or determine an existing list to use) within Mailchimp.
Once completed, update the automation in StellarAlgo to point to the new list.
Re-run the automation after making the change.
Still Not Working?
If your destination settings look correct and the target resource exists, contact StellarAlgo support with the destination name, automation name, and the specific error message you’re seeing.
